  • It has been a while since I have worked on my blog. It doesn't really seem like we get much traffic through Xanga these days. I tend to be on Facebook more. It is easier to write here, though. I have been enjoying my 80 meals and keeping up with my reading goal. We are still waiting for our adoption to get some movement. I hope that by the end of next year we will have our daughter. I am thankful for this wait. I could never have done what I have needed to do this last year with a little one around the house. I praise God even in this waiting time.

  • 80 Meals in 3 Days!

Well, I did it. I cooked 80 meals in three days. That should be enough to last me until mid August. I spent all day Tues., Wednesday, and part of today standing in my kitchen. My body is completely done in! I managed to get everything in my freezer and it looks so good full! I love having everything done and ready to go. I don't have to prep much for the main course which will keep me from buying convenience foods. Did I already say how amazing my freezer looks????? I love it.

    Here's what I made-

    (10)Pizza kits

    (10)Spaghetti sauce

    (3)Manicotti

    (3)Chicken Pot Pie

    (2)Chicken Divan

    (2)Chicken Crescents

    (2)Mandarin Orange Chicken

    (1)Sliced Ham

    (2)Farmer’s casserole

    (2)Aztec Quiche

    (2)Ham quiche

    (2)Shepherds Pie

    (2)Chili

    (2)Linguine a la anne

    (4)Hamburgers

    (2)Chicken Cacciatore

    (2)Enchiladas

    (3)Meal in one potatoes

    (2)Turkey loaf

    (2)Chicken Delicious

    (2)Lasagna

    (2)Chicken a la King

    (3)French Dip

    (1)Split Pea Soup

    (3)Chicken nuggets

    (3)Creamy Italian Chicken

    (3)Burritos

    (3)Tri tip

O.k., so that only adds up to 79. I have some more chicken in my freezer that I can throw in the crock pot with some BBQ sauce for sandwiches. That would make 80.

Tomorrow I am off to a Woman's Retreat and will enjoy being waited on!

  • What I read in February

    Color the Sidewalk for Me
by Brandilyn Collins - I really enjoyed the relational aspects of this book
His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik - This was a fun book to read. Fighting between France and England using dragons.
Aunt Dimity's Death by Nancy Atherton - Light, easy read. I will read her again.
The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond - Well written, but left me feeling empty.
Capture the Wind for Me by Brandilyn Collins - Enjoyed this.
The Secret Life of Becky Miller by Sharon Hinck - This was good, but not as good as The Restorer.
The Hawk and the Dove Trilogy by Penelope Wilcock - Sweet stories about monks, but after a while I lost interest.
Homespun Bride by Jilian Hart - Predictable and terribly written. It was free on my Kindle so I read it.
A Very Special Delivery by Linda Goodnight - Another freebie. It was ok.
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke - Good read. Nothing like I expected.

My favorite was Color the Sidewalk for Me and my least favorite was Homespun Bride.

I am currently up to 23 books this year. I stayed up way too late last night finishing one so I am putting myself on a book fast until Monday.

  • This year, I decided that I would try to read 100 books. I love to read. It is my way to escape the daily grind and the stresses that have surrounded me lately. After I made this goal, I realized that I would have to read a little over 8 books a month. We'll see if I can do that without letting everything else take second place. I'll make sure that Jon holds me accountable to keeping up with everything else.

Here are the books that I have read so far this year.

    January

The Restorer's Journey by Sharon Hinck
    Winter Haven by Athol Dickson
    River Rising by Athol Dickson
    Baby Proof by Emily Giffin
The Church Ladies by Lisa E. Samson
Some Wildflower in My Heart by Jamie Langston Turner

My favorite this month was The Restorer's Journey by Sharon Hinck. It was the third in a series. They were really good. My least favorite was Baby Proof by Emily Giffin.

    February

Color the Sidewalk for Me by Brandilyn Collins
His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik
Aunt Dimity's Death by Nancy Atherton
The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond
Capture the Wind for Me by Brandilyn Collins
The Secret Life of Becky Miller by Sharon Hinck
Still reading - The Hawk and the Dove Trilogy by Penelope Wilcock

I have about 5 more books sitting on the coffee table waiting to be read. I'll let you know my favorite in a week.
